HILAL ERZÄHLT ÜBER IHR FREIWILLIGES JAHR IM MÄDCHENZENTRUM

Hi! My name is Hilal. I’m 24 years old. I’m from Turkey. I´m doing ESC (European Solidarity Corps) project as a volunteer at Mädchenzentrum Klagenfurt.

I graduated from the psychology department in 2020 . And I want to continue my career focusing on gender equality. For this, I wanted to gain experience voluntarily in centers working for the development of women. Also I always wanted to live abroad. But I never had the opportunity. For this purpose, after graduating from university in 2020, I started to research “How can I go to Europe without money”. Then I found ESC.

And here I am!

I am in the 2nd week of my project. I participate in 2 different projects at Mädchenzentrum. The first one of my projects is about girls aged 10-21 and my other project is about young women between the ages of 18-25.

My first days were spent observing the environment and getting familiar with it.

Since I came here I have participated in various activities that I would not normally try, such as bike repair and singing workshops, chair repair, painting and sewing. So I came here to be useful, but basically this center teaches me something every day. 🙂

Sometimes we just made cupcakes together and talked!

It’s only been 2 weeks and I have a long year ahead of me. I hope it will be a useful and enjoyable year!
